The first of two Argentine Primera División clubs to launch this past week, Argentinos Juniors are 8th in Group A after nine matches (4-2-3, 12 goals for, 11 allowed). The club lost their most recent match to fellow Sorare club River Plate 4-2; I’ll be scouting River Plate next but we’re going in release date order.
2022 Argentine Primera División stats are not available on FBRef currently, they’re also not available on fotmob, WhoScored or any of the sites I typically use to double-check current year data; we’re relying heavily on Sorare scoring for current year scouting on value but have still done deep dives on each scouted players history. The historic data cited here does still comes from FBRef and all data visualizations via SorareData.
Federico Lanzillota, G (age 29)
After two seasons with Palestino in Chile, Lanzillota returned to Argentina having made only 17 starts, making 34 saves and keeping three clean sheets. With Juniors, he did not make the full compliment of starts in 2021, splitting time with Lucas Cháves. The 26 year old Cháves is still on the books with Juniors but Lanzillota has started all nine matches so far this year.
His scoring against River Plate (four goals allowed) was a bad outing, but the 29 year old has four clean sheets and a handful of quality SO5 scores. His current price 0.280 Ξ is inexpensive for a starting GK. Why? Well, because Cháves is likely back in contention, soon.
