Sorare NBA is live, auctions are closing, tournaments are open and we’re all looking to build our first teams of the year. You can read all about Sorare’s decisions on scoring and roster construction in their official post but the highlights are simply, straight-forward scoring and complex roster rules which include a point cap.
While the cards have positions there is not currently position modifiers for points, and the positions don’t matter at all for building your squad:
All competitions on Sorare: NBA require a 5 player lineup. You can play any player at any position in each of your five spots; your roster cannot exceed the points cap requirements for each competition.
The points cap will be different for each tournament, and each players cap hit will be different each game week as it’s anchored to their L10 scoring. The final wrinkle is that your highest scoring player by L10 scoring is your “MVP” and doesn’t count against the cap, so much like the real NBA, you can have one superstar but then need to build carefully around them.
Based on what we know now about the point cap and roster construction, you’re going to want to grab a few players who are going to be capable of banging big scores off the bench. So of these guys are going to offer consistent scoring, while others will be prone to the boom/bust potential based on the minutes they receive per match. The list and odds come from this Sports Illustrated article; there are 15 names in all, but today I’m only covering the bookies top seven today. We’re using Sorare listed position eligibility and will not be discussing prices in today’s post because the market is much too new.
2022/2023 6th Man of the Year Odds
Jordan Poole (+450) | Golden State Warriors, G - age 23
Poole is the unquestioned first-man-off-the-bench for Steve Kerr and the reigning NBA Champions. The 23 year old just signed a $140 million extension for four years and will be a regular in the NBA for years to come. He is also decidedly third-fiddle behind Steph Curry and Klay Thompson, but still averaged 28.82 Sorare points per game in 2021-22, and an impressive 34.53 PP36’ which was good for 93rd overall. Just ahead of him in PP36’ was the guy directly below him here, Tyler Herro. Poole played regularly down the stretch and in the playoffs, but understandably saw decreased minutes resulting in a current L10:22 will be a boon for early auction winners who will be hoping he scores closer to his L40:33.
